Guilford Woman July 2012 : Page 2

EDITOR’S MUSINGS Summer is officially in full swing and ready or not, the hot weather is rapidly approaching. Personally, the older I get the less I like ninety degree weather and one hundred per-cent humidity! Not only does the heat get to me but the bugs, mosquitoes and snakes aren’t welcomed either. Speaking of snakes, the other day I went out to the hen house, the “girls” weren’t making a sound and were be-having strangely – I then heard popping and snapping along the electric fence surrounding the hen house. I slowly, and I mean slowly, approached the fence and sud-denly saw a huge snake entwined in the electric fence! Frantically, I screamed for my husband who came rushing out and proceeded to pull the snake through the fence. He pulled and kept pulling the creature and finally when removed the snake measured nearly 6 feet in length and was as big around as a half-dollar! Since then I have spotted three more snakes and the summer has just started. All of you watch where you’re walking! One event that I am very excited about will be in Greensboro on August 1st. Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks will be in concert at the Greensboro Coliseum! I am so ex-cited and can hardly wait. I’ll be there with bells on! I’ve been waiting for this duo for many years – they’re two of my favorite icons of all time. Just listening to them will whisk me back to the 70’s and 80’s and I just might sit there and really chill – since it’s obviously, so very needed! We have great articles for you to enjoy this month in Guilford Woman, so sit back, relax and read what’s been happening over the past month with our friends and neighbors. Have a blast on your 4th of July and be safe.
